House Gut Check

October 11, 2005

TCS meeting JD!

This was early Saturday Morning. I had sent our friend Calli from South Carolina to find JD and bring him over. She and her friend Linda had been there for a few days.

This is the house we worked on.

My beautiful bride, Kim, doing what she does best. Loving on people. This is Ma Sue as she asked us to call her. She had lived in this house for 52 years! Trusted us to tear it completely up!

Just one sample of the inside. This was the kitchen. It is the only floor we could leave.

This is our crew on Sunday morning. The mound of debris behind us is the material taken out of the house the day before! Tired but full.

Many, Many, Many houses across the Mississippi Coast are like the one we worked on. They look ok from the outside but have water still standing in them and Black, gray and other colors of mold growing. But some look like this. These people may be better off.

It was great to meet you Tommy. I, too, wish we had had more time.

An addition to your story. Yesterday morning the lady across the street stormed in and accused David of tearing her house up. She was angry and crying and blaming him for all of her troubles.

As hard as it is for someone like me to lose my home, it is multiplied over and over for someone who has lived in a home for so long.

Later in the day she came back and hugged David, cried on his shoulder and apologized.

    Heartbreaking stories day by day.

Bless you and all those who came to serve. It was a joy to meet your wife as well … special lady!

Thanks for the news from the coast and for what you’re doing. I wish I was a bit closer geographically. But, I’m still praying.
