Eve

November 2, 2005

Have you ever thought about the scene in the garden? There is a moment, maybe longer when Eve is fallen and Adam is not. Well he at least has not eaten. Adam looks at this perfect match, this one who comes through for him in a saving way, this one that completes the only thing God said was not good.

And he chooses her over God.

He says, I can’t imagine life without her.

Or, maybe he just says, uhhhhh OK.

Ohhh sorry, wrong answer, but thanks for playing! The correct answer is that Adam can’t imagine life without this woman. (yes I reallize that she is still naked).

    Nice picture Amy.

Maybe I’m not asking the questions like Eve asked them…

So how upset was he when she frantically started sewing fig-leaves. Or perhaps God making them clothes was part of Adam’s punishment.

**need to remember this verse for future reference Gen 3:21**

I think it is also interesting that God made those clothes from skins. Possibly the first sacrifice. Some animal (maybe a sheep) had to die to provide those skins.

…and if the garden was located in the vicinity of Iraq, skins would be WAY hot to toil in the fields…

Sometimes what we call love is idolatry.

    yes, exactly.

Yeah, it all sounds nice and romantic. “I love you so much I can’t imagine living without you! I choose you over God.”

And then he blames her for the whole mess.
