killing me softly

October 2, 2006

tonight we watched Curious George… just a great kids movie, great music, cute, not full of typical Disney adult humor… I know most parents like the adult humor but this one is just inocent. Titus our youngest gave us a running commentary on what was happening. “He pour the paint in the tub!”, “He flying”, “He ate a bubble”.

My mother just got a dish. She had discovered that we play less than what cable cost and had tried to sign up, but seeing as she has never had a credit card in her life they turned her down. So I had to put it in my name… didn’t think about that you have to have the TV on a certain channel or input and that you can turn off the receiver…well its not Mama proof. She had to have the installer come back the next day and turn it back on for her.

Sometimes our exposure to things cause us to not realize how they have complicated or influenced our lives. Not just Robin Williams cracking jokes as the genie or having command of a Dish Network remote. The influence of sin on our souls or even the complication of what many churches are, more country club or political party and those in the midst don’t even realize that its more about prominance or position with in the group than it is about bringing the good news of Jesus and bringing his love to those outside.

Well more tommorrow. plus an adoption update.

You just said really well something I was trying to convey in a post… about how exposure to things can trick us into thinking that our present reality is the way it was meant to be…

By the way… the soundtrack to Curious George is a real keeper. I haven’t seen the movie, but I’m a Jack Johnson fan and he doesn’t disappoint!

Good point….our reality is so skewed that we don’t realize how things were meant to be.

But I am pretty sure we were not meant to have six remotes to run one stupid TV. Yet that is the reality of my life!

Ah, Curious George! He is an interesting character.

Yes, I yearn for a simpler life. We are highly influenced by the world around us. I want to be more God focused. I want to be more aware of His presence and less concerned with the pull of this world. Good post.–>
