For a seven-year-old, Caleb takes his baseball pretty serious.

Well, I meant to blog about the Mary Winkler trial before it was all over. I found it fascinating for any number or reasons. I grew up very close to Selmer and have been to that church numerous times. Of course the trial itself was interesting to many. It seems that most people I know from around there are deeply divided on the outcome. Donna and I e-mailed about our expectations. I say that so she can verify that we guessed the outcome. As is too often the case the real sorrow should be for the children. Of all the awful things to come out of that courtroom, having a 9-year-old testify against her mother has to be right up there. She really added little if anything and surely didn’t help the jury feel good about the DA or the Winkler family. I just think for a little girl that age that makes an awful situation worse.

Now back to worrying about baseball.

Great pictures….and it is true that we guessed the outcome. I think the producers of Law & Order may be contacting us for some story lines…..

Synergetics? Is that the baseball team name or an advertisement?

Winkler trial – scary on a number of levels for me.

That is the sponser…a local computer company. The team is the Braves. All the teams here have major league uniforms. I’ll try to get a picture with the front in the future.

What great form for a seven year old. I bet he can hit it clear out of the park! Well, infield at least. This is coming from a mom of girls, you know.

Great Pics T…thanks for sharing them.

Concerning the Winkler trial. This trial may show us that there is a more ugly side to legalism and growing up in it, than we are ready to admit.

Our youth minister, Eric Petty grew up in that area and knew the Winklers. He has an interesting take on it all.

And I agree- the girl should have been out playing baseball- not testifying.
