Busy Week

November 23, 2007

this photo is actually another stop on Rob Bell’s “The god’s aren’t angry tour” Monday night we were in Atlanta to hear Rob Bell. The stage looked like this, except that Rob was in all black…except his white belt and green shoes. The theater was hot, but the lesson was really good. Honestly it was one that seems better a few days later than it did that night. If you are going and don’t want to know what it was about…don’t read the next few sentences. Basically it was a message of the gospel of grace. That you CAN know that you are good with God. That the sacrifice has already been made.

We had great conversation going to Atlanta, before the event, after the event and on the way back home. We met up with Donna and some folks from here who went.

We then drove to Tennessee for Thanksgiving there. One of my sisters and I took my dad to get a will and to take care of some other legal matters. It was interesting to say the least. But while in a neighboring town we looked for some Tennessee sorogum. We had asked where we might find some. So we stopped at a burned out old gas station that was a florist, it had a sign out front that they had oranges….we took that to be the “fruit stand”. I said I’d go in and ask if they had any…I was very doubtful…I asked and the lady said “yes”…the kind of yes that means, of course where else would you get sorogm than a florist. Go figure….it was Selmer.

Then back home for thanksgiving with Kim’s family…its a tradition where everyone brings a certain requested dish and Uncle Billy shares his “wine”.

Today was the Egg Bowl… State vs. Ole Miss… after three and a half quarters where my toes were numb, State scored 17 to win the golden egg and secure a bowl game. Coach Croom even grabbed the M-State flag and ran it around the field.

More on Rob Bell later..

Pegues 75 yard touchdown return.

Even the picture makes him look heavier! I agree that it gets richer as you digest the message for a while.

I thought the Rebels were going to take the Egg back home today…scary dat for your Dawgs….then the Hogs did beat the Tigers….crazy day in the SEC.

I was able to attend Rob’s lecture in Philadelphia. I did a review and would be interested in your thoughts.
